PREPARE SURFACE - Be sure surface is clean and dry. Cut away old roof cement if it prevents a smooth patch. Sweep area thoroughly to remove all dust, dirt and other foreign matter that would interfere with a good bond. Remove rust and scale from metal by wire brushing. To achieve a better bond on new or previously uncoated metal, concrete or masonry, prime with a VERY LIGHT coat of Roofers Choice #22 or #13 Non-Fibered Asphalt Coating and allow to dry thoroughly. Priming is also recommended on surfaces which are very dusty, rusty or highly absorbent.
MAKE REPAIRS - Repair cracks, breaks, tears and holes by applying this cement 1/8" to 1/4" thick with a pointed trowel or putty knife. Work the cement into the crack or break and spread it 2 to 4 inches beyond the area to be repaired, feathering the edges.
REINFORCE - If the damaged area is over 1/4" wide or 2" long, embed open glass mesh fabric into the cement as added reinforcement, then cover with additional cement. Glass fabric reinforcement should also be used when patching cracks on walls and foundations, both above and bellow grade.
USE CAUTION - Avoid slipping during roof repair and be aware that fresh applications of roof cement can remain soft and slippery for a time afterward.
CLEAN-UP - Remove Wet 'N Dry Roof Cement from tools with paint thinner, kerosene or mineral spirits. Clean hands with a waterless hand cleaner.
COVERAGE - One gallon covers approximately 12 1/2 square feet, applied 1/8" thick. Please note that Wet 'N Dry Cement is a patching and sealing compound, however is not intended as an overall roof coating.
FOR LONGER-LASTING PERFORMANCE - After the Wet 'N Dry Roof Cement has weathered at least 20 days, brush on Roofer's Choice Fibered Aluminum Coating. This will also minimize formation of water-soluble residue.
